ohhhh tuesday. Better than monday though right? It's dead at work today. I love recess... or um, sorry "district work period" Basically it means that everyone important on the hill is back in whichever state they represent...... so nothing goes on here.... no votes, no congressman, no meetings, not as many phone calls, etc etc. Gives me a chance to get caught up on all of my work.
13 of my friends and I went to Hilton Head over the weekend. THANK god I have friends with parents who have 2nd homes... :) no, but really.. it cuts a vacation price in 1/2 if you don't have to pay for a place to sleep. The drive down there was a huge pain in the ass--- not really, but after a full day of work and a 9 hour drive, at night... not good. I was the lucky one in my car that took over the 12:30-5am, yes 5AM shift. I was sooo tired--thank the lord for caffeine. It was funny because all I wanted to do was sleep...but the second we got there and saw everyone... I was all excited! what am I 8 years old? well.. the excitement lasted for about 20 minutes... we all had a few sips of a drink, then passed out.
It was funny being down in Hilton Head because tons of OU (ohio university) students were down there... I've never felt older. Although I just graduated college one little year ago.... I couldn't do the drinking all day thing anymore. WTF!!! Of course we drank, heavily, but it just wasn't the same. We were at the Salty Dog one night... little cafe.. you've probably seen the logo before on a tee shirt-- if you haven't you must live under a rock... anyway... we were sitting there in comfy clothes, girls had on no makeup.. just hanging out drinking and eating dinner.... well some college kids came in.. dressed to the nines---hair done, full face of makeup, heals...... I mean they did look a little redic, but we all felt so old and well.. u g l y. I wasn't even bitter as much as I just missed it... I'm sure they have about 10 people in a 4 person hotel room, their suitcases and clothes are everywhere, it takes a good 3 hours for everyone to shower and must be done in shifts, and they may or may not have woken up on the beach, a balcony, or in a random hotel room this morning..... I know.. well because I've been there. So now, just one measly year out of college, I'm sitting at the same bar as the old me, in a salty dog long sleeve shirt... yup! You know you're old and a HUGE dork WHEN you're wearing a tee-shirt with the logo of the restaurant/bar you're currently at. Not cool. Me, having more love for my college Miami University than most people do for their first borns... chatted with the OU kids and told them I went to Miami and, asked them if they knew anyone from my hometown.... of course they did. My friend Av, said.. yah.. we graduated, never graduate or you'll turn out like us..... let me paint the picture that was us. There were about 6 of us... on bikes... yes bikes... with BASKETS. haha. we looked like we've been hit with a train because we'd been biking all day, and had a little buzz. These girls were starting at us like we had just told them a horror story.... haha just picturing themselves out of college as these old dorky, hags who ride bikes and look gross. I just felt old. In a sense I didn't mind it though... college was the best 4... or 4.5/5 years... nothing will ever beat them...but my life now is different and fun in different ways. We didn't mind just sitting around on our porch talking, playing drinking games, and one of the nights, we didn't even go out! it's funny how just a year can change things.. we all nicknamed the trip "hammered on the head"..... and trust me.. I was drunk during the trip (peeing in bushed and playing in sprinklers around 3am)... but the need and the want to get absolutely shitfaced, just wasn't there as much.... it was more like buzzed by the beach...
One place that was heaven was frosty frogs..... they made these frozen drinks.. and because there were probably about 25 cups of sugar in them.. you couldn't taste the alcohol at all. They were 90, 180 and 190 proof drinks! holy hell... after one of those things..... good times. Well.. more stores from HH to come... that's all for now. Time to go attempt to find an affordable house in this GD city :)
