spring has sprung :)

Looking very springy in his new polo!
poor little Oxford! This is right as we were leaving the Vet's office! He has to wear this for 2 weeks!

Washington D.C. Tulip Library!

Beautiful!

Spring has sprung here in the district! It's sunny days like these that remind me of why I love this city so much! The tulip library is amazing! I get to drive by it on the way to work and once again on the way home... it helps me not want to kill myself in traffic! Washington D.C. is truly the best! i used to always make fun of Carrie... (sarah jessica parker) when she would talk about having love affairs with NYC...but now, after almost two years in D.C. I can relate. You do fall in *love* with the city you're in. Well, I guess unless you don't like it, in which case you move ;)

This Spring & Summer already has a ton of events planned, which I'm sure will result in many stories and fun blogs. Hopefully I can stay on top of this to share them.

Oxford is doing well.. he got fixed in the first of April. $1,000 later he has no balls and is still insane. Yup. $1,000 to cut off his junk. Needless to stay, this has been a rough month. Even had to borrow some cash from M&D. He's still crazy though--- they said he would calm down, but he doesn't. He's so cute though.. I could be sitting anywhere in the house and he will come right up next to me and lay down. Crazy how much dogs can act like Humans. He's the best.... even though removing his berries is forcing me to eat rice & water.

OH man. I've neglected this again! I was really good there for awhile.

WELL! we're out of our old shitty house. Which is more exciting than you'll ever know. Our landlord was horrible. She was this huge butch bitch that thought her house resembled the Ritz Carlton. It was more like a dump. A dump which we paid a very pretty penny to live in! To note just a few things that went wrong

  • Toilet wasn't working for a few days. In which she told us to use a bucket to fill with water and dump it in the back of the toilet.
  • Water leak through the walls
  • No electricity upstairs for 5 days
  • Gas leak
  • No working dishwasher for over a month.

Just to name a few. I am so much happier now. We moved just a few blocks away to a three story mansion of a house! We have 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The entire middle floor is perfect for entertaining with a huge family and dining room, 1/2 bath, MASSIVE deck. Ohhh I'm so in love!

We found two roommates on criagslist. One is a guy! yup. trying out the living the a boy :) It's kinda cheating though because he has his his own bathroom and huge room. He does have a dog, lola, w hich is nice. Pretty sure Oxford has a huge crush on her. They gave each other a goodnights kiss last night before going to bed. Haha. Just like most males though---- Oxford is crazy and trys to jump all over lola and basically hump her. She's probably like ok take me to dinner or let's go for a walk before we do it... you know? hahaha. Sorry. I know they are dogs, just funny how they are so much like humans.

Other than that I've been loving getting in the christmas spirit! :) Our house is done to the nines! Thanks to my friend Emily who works at a very cute home store in old town--- we have elves on the chandeliers and trees and garlands and every room smells like something different-- christmas trees, baked cookies, it's great! I got a fake tree at wallgreens.. I KNOW FAKE, but it was $20 and came with the lights already on it. Next year I'll be getting a real tree for free though :)

ta ta for now.

Hot Yoga was a Hot Mess.

OK. So getting in better shape is #1 on the things to do list. I was a pro at miami. I'd get up at 7am.. go spinning for an hour... come home do daily activities then go back to the rec for about an hour working out. It probably helped i had no classes, a stupid flower delivery job twice a week, and no real responsibility. Now that I have a 9-6, usually 7 job, a puppy, and a pretty busy social life... don't have time for 3 hours a day of working out. Still trying to work on it though.
ANYWAY, my two friends and I went to "hot" yoga. I'm really going to try to paint a picture of this for you. I've never been to a yoga class.. in my life. Not really into the "deep" "heavy" "share your feelings" workouts. Give me a field hockey stick, a softball glove or a stepper... those are my work outs. But I thought I'd give yoga a try.. and not just any yoga... but "hot" yoga. Basically it's normal yoga but we're in a room that is nearing 100 degrees.

So we went to down dog in georgetown...http://www.downdogyoga.com/enter.html. Kinda hidden... but a nice place. The second you walk in, you're instantly sweaty. So already i was liking it. I love to sweat... makes me feel like I'm working out hard.

So we get our mats and sign up.. and just like you see on the movies and tv... go in the back and lay down and listen to some creepy "heartbeat and heaving breathing" music. It was real weird. We were trying to channel out our stress from the day.... but i was simply just trying to channel myself from not busting out laughing. At one point the instructor told us to get to our "happy place" I just started dying inside.... it reminded me of happy gilmore. Find your happy place.... happpy HAPPPY HAPPPPY happpy. Ha. I was really holding it in.
Then we preceded on to sit Indian style and make our hands look like we were praying and do three "hmmmms" It was a tad creepy. I was trying to concentrate on not laughing, then I realized... I really couldn't breath. It was so hot in there... I was literally dripping sweat like a faucet. My mat and towel were soaking wet. We were doing all of these positions and holding our feet up and head down and twisting and turning our bodies in ways I never knew about. But I started to get really dizzy and lightheaded. I have a history of fainting... so I was getting a little nervous.
The instructor was going on about herijjoko poses and wagasaki stances... and honestly I thought I was going to go down. I quietly exited out the door. I went into the "changing room" and passed out. Ha. It's not funny, but kinda is. Thank god I didn't hit anything and hurt myself. When I came too.. I was still so hot. So i went outside... Opening the door outside (where it was you know... only 80 degrees out, not 100, was amazing). I instantly began to feel better.
I pulled myself together, regained conscious, and went back in for the last 15 minutes of the class. 5 other people had to leave because it was so GD hot in there. Made me feel better. They opened the door as well, which was perfect!
At the end of it all, through all of the drama, it was a great workout! I really enjoyed it. I sweat so much and worked areas of my body that needed work! I want to go back... I'm just a bit scared about the passing out factor. I guess since it was a hot day out... that also added to it... maybe this would be a good class to take during the winter! It helps with posture as well.. and let's face it... they have the cutest yoga clothes ;)

Case of the Missing Thong

Here's a good one for ya:

So I got Oxford a Steelers Jersey. Dumb I know... but it's so damn cute! He looks like a little football player in it! So anyway... after I forced it on him (and got about 5 new bite marks-- in a playing way.. he's not a terror) I went to take some pictures of him on my phone to send to my favorite steeler fans!

So as i'm trying to hold him down, get the steelers logo in the shot and take the picture on the phone.... he was chewing on a pair of underwear. (thank god ugly ones). Anyway... still trying to take the picture... and my phone rings... so I'm chatting for a bit... I look down and Ox is just sitting there looking at me with that "i did something wrong face." There isn't much on my floor... so I start looking around... no underwear to be found. I was like no way .... I know dogs eat random stuff... but this wasn't chewed up, or in pieces, or quite easy to swallow... he didn't even make a noise... they were just... gone!!?? Definitely ate them.. in what I am thinking was one swallow.

So this lead to me being up till 2:30 am freaked out that the underwear were going to wrap around his heart and he would stop breathing (you can tell I didn't do well in biology classes). I just couldn't believe that he swallowed them so quickly. I just kept making sure he was breathing..... I know I'm crazy. My kids will hate me...as I will probably send them off to school in bubble wrap.

the picture above is a shot of the criminal and the undies right before he scarfed them down...
Still have yet to see them "exit"... ok.. this is TMI.

summer fades to fall....

i can't believe that summer is coming to an end. i feel like just yesterday my friends and i were planning beach trips, rooftop happy hours, and going to georgetown to get flip flops and sunglasses! oh-well. the nice thing about dc is that it will stay warm until at least the end of october.
so i may work on the hill... but my true calling in life is an event planner! and not boring events... but exicting ones.. like weddings and birthday and theme parties! right now i'm planning a bachlorette party for shauna, a trip to the outer banks for my friends, and a 4-way 80s theme birthday party. (i know, lame to plan your own bday, but I don't care)

the 4-way bday party is with one of the girls i work with... so we have so much fun looking up coustumes when we get bored. i recently just won these shoes... I am in love with them! ha... i will most likely never wear them again, but they will be fun for just one night. it's rough deciding if you want to be an 8os punk rocker with a jean skirt, side poney tail and leggings.... or do the 8os prom route.. an ugly dress with huge sleeves. rough decision i tell ya.
Other than that... not too much is new here in dc. i wish i had more to report. football season has been great... and the steelers are looking spectac. i'm most excited that the browns beat the bengals who beat the ravens. Add all that together and i'm pretty sure it means the steelers are the best in their division. i reallllly want to make a game this season! my friends emily and ashley are heading up to one on dec. 16... i need to go!
hope you are all having a lovely day! next week at this time... greys starts!!!

puppy love :)

Well, After many months of planning.. my puppy Oxford Hudson Clark is finally here. Yes.. I named him after my two favorite cities :) I've gotten made fun of...but I love the name Oxford... it's great :) He's been so amazing so far! He's practically already potty trained and he sleeps through the night! I feel like this means my first born is going to cry all day and all night long for the first month he/she is home. Ha. But here are some pictures from the most current to down on his birthday on May 25, 2007!

It's so crazy to see him here. He went from looking like a rat to the cutest puppy ever! I've only had him for a week, but I already love him so much. I forgot how great it was to have a dog around---- sometimes it's so nice.. he doesn't say anything :) ha unlike everyone else in life.
I have him all signed up for Puppy preschool and Puppy Kindergarten.. so I'm excited for him to start that. He's SUCH a biter.. and it freaking hurts. My arms make me look like I'm a cutter. Cuts all up and down them! I've read it's not good to hit (even if lightly) your puppy.... so i've been trying other methods... but it's been rough.
I can't believe how big he is getting! I've only had him for a little over a week, and I can already tell him getting bigger! I just hope my family can see him before he's huge. I'm lucky that a good number of my friends have already experience his greatness :)
He's currently passed out next to be right now.. laying flat on his back with his privates all over the place. Sounds like a typical boy uh? My camera broke ( I KNOW A HORRIBLE TIME to have it break!!! the week I get an adorable puppy!!!) but my new one should be here soon!
I totally forgot to include how Oxford got here... which will be another blog entry.. because it's an hilarious story, and you'll love it! ALL I can say is my friend beth... well she's the best thing EVER :)

going to the chapel and we're going to get married....

One of my best friends since freshman year of high school just got engaged! I'm so excited for shauna and andy! (oh yah.. i've decided to start using real names because it's stupid to not on here... i'm not going to tell anything tooo bad on this little blog) I'm so excited for them. I'm also quite excited/proud of myself because I've known he was going to ask her since December! Yup.. since december! and I haven't said one word :) That was really hard because Shauna has been waiting for this for awhile .. and I just wanted to scream it's coming! Especially because we lived together and I saw her everyday.. keeping that big of a secret was rough. I love this picture of just their hands in the black and white. Such a great (self) shot! I really miss photography....I hope to own my own studio one day and shoot weddings, babies, kids, couples.. all of the things I love the most!!

Anyway.. back to the bride and groom to be! What I like most about their story.. is that.. it doesn't have some hollywood/disney start. It's not like the met and it was love at first sight. They didn't have some amazingly cute little story that you'd see on "perfect proposal" or "the wedding story" I think too many people (myself included) believe that when you find "the one" you'll know right away and some great, hilarious, cute, sentimental story will follow. It always doesn't work out that way... and when it does, those people are lucky to have it, but it's not needed for a lasting marriage. Shauna, and andy for that matter will tell you that this relationship started out like many college relationships do.. after a night out :) They will both say they had to work at it, and work both together and apart to make it work.....but more times than not...life long relationships can start like that. I love how shauna said... "it took us awhile to realize we were soul mates" So cute, and so true. We're young.. we don't know what we want, who we want, or why we want them. Sometimes it takes awhile to grasp something. I can't think of a better guy for her. I lived with Andy as well this past year... and they compliment each other so well. Andy will have shauna laughing at all of his funny, and even not funny jokes until they are old and grey :) I can't wait to watch them grow together for the next many years..... and I hope one day to be 1/2 has happy as they are! I've seen shauna experience.. I believe her first kiss and first boyfriend.. and I'm so excited with who she has picked for her last :)
